Apprentices will graduate with their high school diploma alongside fully accredited college courses. Students may earn an associates degree, or simply have a good chunk of college under their belt by the time they graduate high school.

Yes! The Good Apprenticeship is a fully alternative option for Maine High Schoolers. The Good School reports your academic progress to the state each year, and you will be issued an official state diploma upon completion.

We aim for apprentices to finish all schoolwork during school hours, at school. Our program is designed so that you can complete your classwork in school, during study time, so you can relax and recharge at home. If you want to work on some things at home, you certainly can, but you shouldn’t need to.

Yes! College courses are administered through Kennebec Valley Community College and can transfer to any high school or college.

There is zero out-of-pocket cost to families! We believe in the importance of our mission and as apprentices, teachers, and families cooperate as a community, we are able to support each other in a mutually beneficial program. We also help students apply for state and federal grants to pay for their college courses.

Yes, The Good School has worked to obtain permission from both the state and federal level Department of Labor offices to be sure that The Good Apprenticeship complies with all relevant regulations. The Good School provides genuine, quality, highly credentialed training and education so that each apprentice leaves our program with both hard and soft skills to help them succeed in a career related to childcare. All program metrics are clearly documented along the way to provide a tangible record of achievement- perfect to include on future school and job applications!

Students who start at a later age may remain in the program after high school and are welcome to stay and finish their degree with us, or transfer their credits earned to any other school.

You will receive credit completed during the time that you are with us. If you come for one semester and successfully complete 6 college credits, then you will just have 6 completed college credits to transfer as you wish.

Yes. We can arrange your apprenticeship schedule to fit with your school schedule- such as early mornings, after school, and weekends. This is arranged on a case by case basis, so get in touch with us if you’d like to apply!
