The Good School Schedule

M-F 6am-6pm

School and Childcare are offered on a consistent basis, year round—including most holidays and school breaks.

We know that your work schedule probably doesn’t change for summer vacation, and neither do your childcare needs!

Furthermore, the State of Maine requires a certain number of instructional days/hours per year. By spreading our academic time throughout the year, we are able to follow a more natural, relaxed pace. We have time to circle back on topics where a student is struggling- or shows extra interest!

The consistency and stability of knowing where they are going, who will be there, what the routine is, and what to expect— these are the things that give a child peace and confidence. As they learn to rely on the continuity of their experience, instead of devoting energy to constant adaptation and adjustment periods, they will be able to use that bandwidth for curiosity, creativity, and connection.

We practice “in-school breaks” meaning, following the public school calendar for vacation time, we continue providing care and instruction on our regular schedule—but we take a break from some aspects of regular curriculum units so that families who prefer to follow a more traditional school schedule can jump back in without missing a beat.

If your child is in care with us during School Hours, they will automatically be included in our school program.

If you would like your child to attend our school without being enrolled in childcare, they may join us for School Hours only- Full-Time or Part-Time!

At The Good School, we believe in spending as much time in nature as possible. As such, we intentionally complete as much structured classroom instruction from November-April as possible, so that we can have maximum freedom and flexibility to spend our time on adventures and excursions while the weather is most favorable.

We do spend ample time outdoors year round, rain or shine. We believe there’s no bad weather- only the wrong clothing and preparation!

Little ones are actively included in outdoor activities according to their schedule and developmental needs.
